Analyze IS-IS

The Intermediate System to Intermediate System Routing Protocol (IS-IS) is OSI link-state hierarchical routing protocol that floods the network with link-state information to build a complete, consistent picture of network topology. In large, redundant networks, variations and errors in routing behavior can be very difficult to understand due to the complexity and rapidity of routing protocols. In addition, engineers need visibility into routing in order to ensure consistent delivery of application performance to their end users. Route analytics technology pioneered by Packet Design provide unique real-time visibility into EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS and BGP routing behavior, allowing network engineers to analyze IS-IS on a network-wide basis and perform deep analysis of IS-IS behavior.

Packet Design's Route Explorer provides unprecedented visibility and analysis features for IS-IS routing. Route Explorer IS-IS route analytics features include:

  • Real-time, network-wide routing topology visualization and analysis, across multiple protocols, AS, levels and areas
  • Monitoring and alerting on IS-IS routing issues
  • Full routing event history navigation -- Move back in time to analyze past IS-IS event streams exactly as they happened
  • Modeling and simulation of routing changes and failures for more accurate planning and maintenance operations
