BGP/MPLS VPN Route Analysis

BGP/MPLS VPN route analysis consists of monitoring and analyzing two key metrics of per-VPN routing integrity, namely VPN reachability and PE membership. VPN reachability analysis determines whether prefix advertisements or withdrawals have occurred within the VPN over time, and whether reachability is appropriate given the VPN's baseline reachability. VPN PE membership analysis shows whether the VPN is still connected to its baseline PEs, and whether any new PEs have been added. Reachability and PE membership can be monitored for percentage deviation from the baseline as an indicator of failures or compromised privacy.

Packet Design's VPN Explorer delivers per BGP/MPLS VPN layer 3 and routing reachability and PE membership baselining, monitoring and analysis, as well as core network IGP/BGP route analysis and modeling. VPN Explorer helps Service Providers and large enterprises deploying their own MPLS VPN core network to effectively manage the complex, virtualized routing deployed to support MPLS VPN services to their customers.
