MPLS VPN Monitoring |
|
|---|---|
Two different MPLS VPN monitoring requirements occur based on whether an organization is deploying MPLS VPNs across its own core network infrastructure, or if it is utilizing MPLS VPN services from a Service Provider. In the first case, one of the key challenges is to monitor the routing integrity of multiple, separate MPLS VPNs for service assurance to MPLS VPN end customers. MPLS VPN-aware route analytics can help by providing per-VPN visibility for monitoring MPLS VPN routing integrity metrics such as PE membership and routing reachability. In the second case, organizations need to monitor the routing integrity for their partiuclar VPN, with the challenge being that there is no routing visibility from the Customer Edge (CE) router through the Provider Edge (PE) router across the Service Provider core. BGP route analytics can help by providing multi-AS hop visibility and routing event analysis to understand how routing is working (or not!) across the MPLS VPN service. Packet Design's Route Explorer provides unprecedented visibility and analysis features for BGP routing. Route Explorer's BGP route analytics features include:
